Cubs armless, mull name change to “Rockies”

Following Kerry Wood in the rotation, Cubs RHP Mark Prior also followed Wood onto the trainer’s table on Monday with an inflamed pitching elbow. Prior will miss his second scheduled start of the spring today, and will rest his arm to attempt to quell the inflammation.

Despite the setbacks, the Cubs expect both Wood and Prior to be ready to start the first and second games of the regular season. Prior’s injury is also unrelated to previous arm problems. “Obviously, we’re talking about an elbow and matter of inches,” Prior told reporters. “It’s a completely different area, and not even the same thing. It’s a different part of the body. It’s not the same thing.” Reporters then asked several times whether the injury might be the same thing…
