Gooden passes on Martin Bashir documentary

Formar Yankee pitcher and current Yankee employee Dwight Gooden was released from jail on his own recognizance Monday after allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend on Sunday. Gooden was held until his girlfriend could appear in court to contest his release.

Neither Gooden nor his lawyer would speak to reporters, so most turned to Gooden’s nephew Gary Sheffield for information. Sheffield indicated that Gooden was considering pressing charges against the girlfriend, and that he may be back in training camp as early as today. “The one thing I’ve learned about George is that George has [Gooden’s] back,” Sheffield said, perhaps not understanding that George literally owns Gooden’s back…
