MLB says Sanchez’s protein shakes illegally delicious

Devil Rays CF Alex Sanchez is the first player to be suspended under MLB’s new drug-testing policy, the commissioner’s office said Sunday. Sanchez, who was picked up by Tampa Bay after being released by the Tigers March 14, will serve a 10-day suspension beginning Monday. The official statement did not reveal what substance was found.

Sanchez told reporters that he would appeal the suspension, but did not say whether he believes the test result was a false positive. He did, however, deny taking steroids. “I know I did nothing incorrect,” he said. “I take stuff I buy over the counter. Multivitamins, protein shakes, muscle relaxants. That kind of stuff.” As mentioned in the Congressional hearings last month, one of the holes in MLB’s policy is that they don’t test for “stuff”…
