Sanchez to take his medicine…er, I mean…

NEW YORK, New York — Tampa Bay OF Alex Sanchez has decided not to appeal his drug-test-related suspension, he said Thursday. Sanchez was suspended for 10 days without pay — a total of $32,787 of his $600,000 salary — for violating baseball’s steroids policy. The MLB Players’ Association said they support Sanchez’s decision.

Sanchez also said that he found out that the positive test result was due to an ingredient in an over-the-counter supplement he took. “I used an over-the-counter supplement that I purchased before the laws banning certain substances changed on January 15th,” Sanchez said. “If I am guilty, I am guilty of not taking the initiative to learn more about the contents of what I was taking.” And if we’re guilty, we’re only guilty of loving backup outfielders too much…
