Judge to Angels: just don’t change your name to The OC

From the Strikethree.com Newsroom

SANTA ANA, CA — The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim can keep calling themselves the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, an Orange County Superior Court judge ruled Thursday. Judge Peter J. Polos ruled that he had no authority to reverse a jury’s earlier ruling that the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were not in breach of their contract with the City of Anaheim.

The City had previously sued the team for up to $373 million in damages which they said were suffered through lost tourism and publicity after the name change. The City had not immediately decided whether they’d appeal, or whether they’d change their name to the Los Angeles City of Anaheim just to keep it consistent.
