Puckett memorial gets bigger crowd than many Twins games

From the Strikethree.com Newsroom

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — “Make sure you smile and laugh tonight because that’s what Kirby would want” Twins radio announcer John Gordon told 15,000 friends, family and fans at the Metrodome on Sunday night, as they remembered Kirby Puckett’s life and legacy. The memorial followed a private service for those closest to Puckett.

Teammates including Kent Hrbek and opponents including Cal Ripken remembered Puckett’s quick smile and tough play. “I’m going to remember the smile. I’m going to remember the laughter. I’m going to remember the clubhouse pranks and just having a good ol’ time with Puck,” Hrbek said.

The Metrodome program also featured clips of Puckett’s greatest moments, including his game-winning home run in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series, and his “Late Show” appearance, reading the “Top Ten Ways To Mispronounce Kirby Puckett”:
