This just in: you do, in fact, gotta have heart

SUN CITY, AZ — Padres RHP Doug Brocail is doing well after undergoing surgery on his heart, doctors said Saturday. Brocail underwent a successful angioplasty to clear blockage of his descending coronary artery, and will be out indefinitely while he recovers, Padres physician Dr. Harry Albers told reporters at Boswell Memorial Hospital.

“From a baseball standpoint, we are optimistic that Doug will be able to resume his playing career. However, our main relief is that this was discovered, and may well have saved Doug’s life,” said Dr. Albers, who is very good at medicine, but grammar…not so much.

Brocail had complained of chest tightness following workouts earlier this month, and after inconclusive tests, was admitted to hospital for further tests, revealing the blockage. The righty was also being treated for asthma and an abscessed wisdom tooth. He will likely remain in hospital while doctors see if they can find anything else.
