Doc caught dipping into prescriptions again

TAMPA, FL — Drugs may have done in Dwight Gooden’s Hall of Fame hopes, and on Tuesday they may have ended his freedom for a while, as the former pitcher was arrested for using cocaine. Gooden remains in jail without bond. “We will be requesting that he remain in jail on no bond because he violated probation,” Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi said. He is scheduled to appear in court today.

Gooden, on probation after driving away from a 2005 DUI staffic stop, was checking in with his parole officer when he told her he had taken cocaine. A subsequent drug test was positive, and Gooden was arrested. Meanwhile, somewhere, Darryl Strawberry awoke from a nap with the strangest feeling…
