The bad news, as you likely already know, is that Peter Gammons suffered an aneurysm on Tuesday. Sure, we’ve made our share of fun of the guy who’s been like a grandpa to us, but the truth is that as one of the few remaining sportswriters who actually seems to enjoy baseball, we’d rather he stick around.
The good news is that he’s currently in ICU, resting comfortably after surgery, and that brain aneurysms are highly survivable when they do not rupture (as any R.E.M. fan knows). (Gammons’ was caught before it ruptured.)
And on a humorous note, one message board poster illustrates a chilling potential consequence.
